DE LA PÉRGOLA A LA NEGRA
The Regia Orquesta Quinteto and Valentín Trujillo present "From the Pergola to La Negra," a musical journey between two classics of Chilean musical theater from the 20th century: "La Pergola de las Flores" (1960) by Isidora Aguirre and composer Francisco Flores del Campo, and "La Negra Ester" (1988) by Roberto Parra, adapted and directed by Andrés Pérez with music by La Regia Orquesta.
These two love stories aim to give voice to those who, from precarious circumstances, build a country with hope. Songs like "La Pergola de las Flores," "Yo vengo de San Rosendo," and "La Revuelta" will share the repertoire with "Jazz Guachaca," "La Negra Ester," "Japonesita," and many other melodies that traverse the landscapes of Chilean theatrical history.
Both pieces dignify marginality by revealing its complexities, simplicities, and beauties to construct identity, evoking musical references belonging to the memory of popular Chilean music. The significant figure of Valentín Trujillo is a fundamental element; he is a privileged witness of the musical and theatrical eras mentioned here.

This work brought about a change in Chilean music and theater by showcasing Parra's work, his "jazz huachaca," and "cuecas choras." The current lineup includes original members Guillermo Aste and Jorge Lobos, along with Marcelo Salinas, Roberto "Titae" Lindl, and Juan Pablo Bosco.
