  • Country: Chile
  • Premiere: 2021
  • Target audience: +14 years
  • Length: 70 minutes

Made between Buenos Aires and Santiago, Ella lo ama marked Daniel Veronese's return to the local scene, directing chilean actors. A reflection, with comedic overtones, on the meaning of love and the trials that must sometimes be overcome for it to last.

Ella lo ama ("She loves him") is a play about love and the conversations surrounding it. It delves into the sensible aspects and the feelings associated with love. Do attempts to understand it in ways other than the sentimental one work? Is it useful to question and doubt love, to seek the hard and cold truth? One night, locked in a house, a couple is visited by a mutual friend who brings news about the endurance of love in their lives.

The performances of "She Loves Him" in Chile in 2021 were part of the world premiere of the new work by Argentine director and playwright Daniel Veronese (Brief Encounters with Repulsive Men), who once again directs a Chilean cast, composed of actors Tamara Acosta, Cristián Carvajal, and Álvaro Espinoza, with lighting design by the renowned Chilean theater designer Catalina Devia.

Biographies:

Daniel Veronese

(Avellaneda, Province of Buenos Aires, 1955). Trained in puppet theater with Ariel Bufano and in playwriting with Mauricio Kartun, he was one of the first playwrights to garner attention in the early nineties and consolidate the emergence of a new dramatic writing after the predominantly scenic (scene-centric and anti-literary) renewal of the eighties.

A playwright, theater director, actor, and puppeteer, he was a founding member, along with Emilio García Wehbi and Ana Alvarado, of the theater group El Periférico de Objetos, created in 1989, which based its experimentation on the integration of actors and objects. As an author, his works are published in two collections: "Cuerpo de prueba," a volume of fourteen plays, and "La deriva," containing seven. As a director, he has staged productions such as "Máquina Hamlet," "Circonegro," "El líquido táctil," "La muerte de Marguerite Duras," "Apócrifo 1," and "Dramas breves 2," among others. His productions have been presented at major theater festivals worldwide, and in the last fifteen years, he has received over 25 awards in Argentina for his contribution to the theater scene.
