La persona deprimida
Actress Amparo Noguera lets loose a brutal monologue on depression: a blunt but also intimate and touching piece with a sprinkle of humor.
Told in the third person, La persona deprimida is the story of a woman with clinical depression and her relationship with her psychiatrist and parents who, she says, are to blame for her current state. It focuses on the specific therapy her psychiatrist suggests, called ‘the circle of help’: a group of people she trusts and who she can call at any time.
The story continues by detailing an excruciating kind of intimacy, showing an extreme side to humanity that goes beyond the illness itself and giving a glimpse of a whispered cry for help.
After its successful premiere in Argentina in 2019 starring actress María Onetto, Argentine director Daniel Veronese presents a new version in this Teatro a Mil Foundation coproduction.
This time, Amparo Noguera gets under the skin of the main character in a script that is blunt but also intimate and touching and with a sprinkle of humor.
