In 1960, after the great Valdivia earthquake, a Mapuche community near Lake Budi carried out the sacrifice of a child in an attempt to appease supernatural forces and prevent an even greater catastrophe.
At the time, those involved were brought to trial; however, they were ultimately acquitted, and the official court records have since been lost.
Today, a group of law students is assigned this case for their Legal Clinic exam. With no ruling to consult, they’re forced to imagine what the judge might have decided back then—confronting, in the process, their own cultural and social biases.
