Two actors take on the challenge of playing Richard III, the ruthless monarch from Shakespeare’s tragedy.
They’ve spent their entire lives in supporting roles and feel they finally deserve this chance. Still, they believe the rest of the cast isn’t up to their level, and they’re not happy with anything the director suggests. As they work on the character, the similarities between the actors and the English king begin to surface. All three are ambitious and sharp. Like Richard III, they refuse to settle; they crave power and have no patience for soft, oversensitive, or mediocre colleagues.
As their personal stories start to intertwine, the relationship between the actors, the character, and the audience grows tighter, opening up space to reflect on the limits of human ambition, the dynamics of power today, desire, and resentment.
