A myth from Jeju Island told through a pansori chorus: The birth of guardian spirits who protect the home.
Long ago, in the village of Namsun, Lady Yeo-san struggled to care for her seven children while waiting for her husband, Namsun-bi, who had been away for three years seeking his fortune. When she finally sets out to find him, she discovers that he has lost not only all his wealth but also his sight. As the family reunites and tries to return to normal, the youngest son, Nokdisaengi, senses something strange and unsettling in his mother.
This piece explores the challenges of family communication and the true meaning of living together, posing a fundamental question: what does it mean to be part of a real community?
