Yacimiento blends art environment, performance, and sound art to create a stage experience centered on Chuquicamata, a former mining camp in the Atacama Desert.
The work explores the complex relationship between the extreme landscape, mining activity, and a community that built its life around minerals, poetically bringing to life a place that has disappeared. Through the journey of the "Copper Woman," the audience becomes part of a pilgrimage into the depths of Chuquicamata, where geographic, climatic, industrial, and social elements converge.
Identity, history, and the impact of mining on the land and its people are among the themes present in this production. Its central reflection invites us to ponder over what still lies hidden in the layers of memory and earth.
