Festival Internacional Teatro a Mil 2025 presents Amal in Chile, starring a 3.5-meter-high puppet representing a 10-year-old Syrian refugee girl whose name in Spanish is Esperanza. Amal is the heart of the project The Walk, a call for universal attention to the effects of immigration, displaced people, children fleeing war, violence and persecution.
Since July 2021, Amal has toured 17 countries and has been welcomed by two million people on the streets and more than 10 million online. It has created 475 unique events in each community, thanks to hundreds of artists, civil society and religious leaders.
Her journeys are festivals of art and hope that draw attention to the enormous number of children fleeing war, violence and persecution, each with their own story. Their urgent message to the world is “don't forget about us.” As it has happened in every place Amal has visited, in Chile she will be received by the communities of each territory, meeting with artists, social leaders, community groups, children and young people from all backgrounds, who will activate different special moments in her passage through our country.
Little Amal has become an international symbol of compassion and human rights. She carries a message of hope for displaced people around the world, especially for children who have been separated from their families.
