Teatro de marionetas
By Compañía Silencio Blanco | Directed by Santiago Tobar
The acclaimed Silencio Blanco Company thrills again with its puppets, this time with a work inspired by the tragedy that occurred in 2005, in the Biobío region, in which 44 conscripts and an army sergeant died under a snowstorm.
Antuco is a human tragedy in the immense and wonderful landscape of nature.
Antuco is memory and is the present.
Antuco is about the relationship of children and young people with militarization, in a context in which most of them come from rural areas, and see in the institution an opportunity to emerge and "be someone else in life". A work that shows the imagination of children regarding war, from the game and an epic context, but that is countered with the reality of a harsh, crude, abusive system that does not protect them.
For this production, Silencio Blanco was inspired by the Antuco tragedy that occurred in 2005 in the Biobío region of Chile, in which, as a result of a series of negligence and bad decisions, 44 18-year-olds and a sergeant died frozen in the mountains.

Conversatorio post-función
Silencio Blanco
“La compañía Silencio Blanco logra poner en escena un relato doloroso, pero lleno de simbolismos, y poca literalidad”.
-Culturizarte, 2023
“No hacen falta las palabras para hablar del horror. Eso lo sabe bien la compañía Silencio Blanco, especializada en el trabajo con marionetas, y que ha eliminado casi por completo el uso del texto hablado en escena”.
