Compagnie l'Homme Debout

Company

Compagnie l'Homme Debout is based in Poitiers (France) and was created in September 2011 under the direction of BeNoît Mousserion. It develops a deeply rooted project in partnership with the inhabitants of the territories where they have the opportunity to perform. The process of creation of the shows produced by the company is intertwined with the implementation of relatively long and intense participatory projects, which allow the meeting, the exchange and the sharing with the inhabitants of a territory.

Benoît Mousserion seeks to create human adventures around the realization of the company's shows, to provoke intense emotions within this very realization, to constitute the space conducive to the most delicate encounters, to shake the rhythm of life of a neighborhood, a city, a village, to raise its inhabitants to the height of these giants they are building, to support and promote them.

Mo, a huge wicker boy over seven meters tall, visits our country in the 2025 version of the International Festival Teatro a Mil. A play that tells the story of how he flees his country at war to begin an imaginary journey to a new life. Asleep, he dreams of his family and his birthday, but a nightmare wakes him up frightened, with a gift that slips out of his hands, spreading a red ribbon throughout the city.

This open-air musical show features a giant seven-meter-tall puppet that travels around the city, along with animated objects, music and evolving scenery.

The work explores the experience of migration from the perspective of a child. Despite the thematic load, it is a joyful, playful, poetic and musical presentation in which the red ribbon acts literally and figuratively as a guiding thread.
