This artist and theater researcher graduated in arts with a specialty in dance (2011) from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Chile and did postgraduate studies involving a Masters in theater directing (2014) and a Masters in theatrical practices and visual culture at the Queen Sofia Museum/National Center of Art (ARTEA/UCLM) in Madrid, Spain (2018-2019). He’s currently looking to create a simultaneous practice that both links and broadens the disciplinary limits between teaching, performance, research and creation in dance, within a wide field that creates new approaches and where the body in movement converses with different artistic and social matters, ways of thinking and theoretical crossovers. He has directed and choreographed Deuda (presented at Santiago a Mil 2013), SentidoSeis (SaM 2017) and Prácticas de vuelo (SaM 2018), as well as other plays.
— Pablo Zamorano (33) has a wide range of experience both on stage and directing. He’s performed with different contemporary dance companies in Chile and has toured his work independently in Latin America and Europe, collaborating with artists from different disciplines, making him into one of the country’s most promising figures in this discipline.
— Pablo’s piece can be called esthetic and reflective, and also incorporates a tense de-colonial dimension. He questions the idea of the “impossible promise of paradise made during the conquest, which was later called capitalism and is currently called neoliberalism”. As he indicates, the answer lies in suggesting new angles from which to tackle its real content.
— His work is constantly connected to social and artistic collaboration. Plano Sutil is “an articulation of material that is always mutating and is presented in a new way, leading to the emergence of different structures. That’s this research’s greatest potential”, he says.
Contemporary dance: A dance genre that emphasizes composition rather than technique, it emerged as a reaction to classical versions and aims to satisfy the need to express yourself freely using the body. It’s a kind of dance that aims to transmit an idea, feeling or emotion, combining bodily movements from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. It also incorporates elements from different genres to convey that dance is a work of art.

A play about how different belief systems are configured in times of neoliberalism is brought to us by this creator and performer.
How do the different physiological mechanisms involved in the perception of an invisible body work? What way of thinking does the spirit have? Plano Sutil is a framework of mutating theatrical material; a mixed-race body that’s both a bridge and an unstable frontier, tackling the impossible promise of paradise. Movement and voice expand between the vague limits of reality, fiction and collective rites. This play was created and premiered at Madrid’s Pradillo Theater and at the Baratza Aretoa venue in Vitoria, Spain in 2019.

— Porque Pablo Zamorano (33) tiene un amplio bagaje en piso y dirigiendo; ha sido intérprete de distintas compañías de danza contemporánea en Chile y ha girado su trabajo de forma autodidacta por Latinoamérica y Europa, colaborando con artistas de distintas disciplinas; esto lo ha transformado en una de las figuras con más proyección de la disciplina en el país.
— Porque la propuesta de Pablo podría definirse como un propuesta Estética y Discursiva que tensa una dimensión decolonial. Su pregunta aborda la idea de una “promesa imposible del paraíso instalada en conquista, llamada posteriormente capitalismo y actualmente neoliberalismo”. La respuesta según señala, radica en plantear nuevas perspectivas para abordar su real contenido.
— Por su trabajo, siempre conectado en espacios de colaboración social y artística. Plano Sutil es “una articulación de materiales siempre mutantes y puestos allí de forma nueva, desde aquí emergen estructuras diferentes, ese es el mayor potencial de la investigación", dice.
Danza contemporánea: Género de la danza que enfatiza el proceso de la composición sobre la técnica. Surge como reacción a las formas clásicas y busca satisfacer la necesidad de expresarse libremente con el cuerpo. Es una clase de danza en la que se busca expresar una idea, un sentimiento, una emoción, mezclando movimientos corporales propios del siglo XX y XXI. Además incorpora y funde elementos de diferentes géneros para expresar la danza como una obra de arte.
