A performance by Chilean artist Vicente Ruiz, called El Gavilán, and a live screening of Vicente Ruiz: a tiempo real, a documentary about his work and career. Composed of two parts, this montage begins with El Gavilán, a 13-minute performance that dives into one of the most emblematic musical pieces by Violeta Parra, Chilean singer-songwriter. The performance allows us to understand the invisible forces of this piece through dance and bodies in movement.
In the second part of the montage, the documentary Vicente Ruiz: a tiempo real, directed by Matías Cardone and Julio Jorquera, is screened to the audience. The film traces the work of Vicente Ruiz and his creative process, the emotional impulses behind his oeuvre and his constant search for change. With archival footage and testimonies, the documentary explores the social role of art through one of the leading figures of the Chilean 80s counterculture.
